Welcome!

Hello!
I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is Jill and I am currently a lowly graduate student, looking to make my free time more meaningful. In search of this holy Grail, I am attempting to make 2011 my own personal Year of Giving. I will be devoting my time every week to 5 organizations or charities, for an entire year. I will also be featuring a local/national charity once a week, including who to contact/what/where you can get involved!

I was inspired to start this after realizing that my free time is spent doing what most people do - watching tv, reading books and generally not being proactive. My resolution for 2011 is to change that part of me. While doing good in my community, I will be choosing to spend my time proactively - helping those that cannot help themselves! I hope that this little slice of the internet will inspire just one person to take one day a month to help others.

Before I start this adventure, in the 24th year of my life, I need your input. How should I structure my Year of Giving? Just complete the poll to the left of this post!

Should I devote my time to a different organization every single day?
Should I volunteer for the same organizations, once a week for the entire year?
Should I rotate organizations - the same organization, once a week but change which ones every month?

Help me decide how I should spend my Year of Giving!
